At Albanian International School (AIS), we use the NWEA MAP® Growth™ assessment as an important part of our commitment to monitoring student progress and supporting continuous academic growth. For more than 10 years, MAP Growth has been an integral part of our educational program, providing reliable data that helps teachers, students, and parents understand each student’s academic journey.
MAP Growth is a computer-adaptive international assessment that adjusts the difficulty of questions according to each student’s responses. This allows students to demonstrate their individual level of achievement while providing a consistent measure of academic growth over time. At AIS, MAP Growth is administered three times each academic year—in the Fall, Winter, and Spring—allowing teachers to establish a baseline, monitor progress, adjust instruction, and measure annual growth.
Students in Kindergarten through Grade 2 are assessed in Reading and Mathematics, while students in Grades 3–9 are assessed in Reading, Mathematics, Language Usage, and Science. MAP Growth uses the RIT Score, a stable measurement scale that makes it possible to track a student’s progress over time, regardless of grade level.
NWEA MAP Growth Assessment
MAP Growth results provide teachers with valuable information to identify strengths, areas for improvement, learning gaps, and opportunities for enrichment. This data supports differentiated instruction, academic goal-setting, and informed decisions about teaching and learning. MAP Growth data is considered alongside classroom assessments, teacher observations, projects, and daily performance to provide a comprehensive picture of each student’s development.
At AIS, we believe that assessment should be used to support learning, not simply to measure it. MAP Growth results are openly shared with students and families and are discussed during parent-teacher conferences, encouraging meaningful collaboration between teachers, students, and parents. Our goal is to use assessment data to celebrate student growth, strengthen learning, build confidence, and help every student reach their full academic potential.
