Preschool
At Albanian International School (AIS), our Preschool program provides children ages 3–5 with a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate first school experience. We believe the early years are essential for building curiosity, confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Our Preschool program combines an American standards-based approach with developmentally appropriate practices, allowing children to learn through a balance of guided instruction, exploration, play, and hands-on experiences. Students develop foundational skills in language and literacy, early mathematics, science, creativity, physical development, and social-emotional learning.
AIS uses Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) to support early literacy development by building vocabulary, communication skills, listening comprehension, and early reading foundations through rich stories, discussions, and meaningful learning experiences. For early mathematics, students engage with EngageNY Mathematics, which helps develop number sense, problem-solving skills, mathematical thinking, and confidence through exploration and practice.
Our classrooms provide a caring and supportive environment where children are encouraged to ask questions, express their ideas, collaborate with others, and become confident learners. Through hands-on activities, learning centers, creative experiences, and social-emotional learning, students develop the skills needed for a successful transition into Kindergarten.
Preschool students also participate in enrichment classes such as Art, Music, and Physical Education, providing opportunities to explore their interests, develop creativity, and strengthen skills beyond the classroom.
At AIS, we believe that families are essential partners in a child’s educational journey. Together, we create a positive first school experience where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.
